I want to take a moment to acknowledge that Sphinx Moth Press does its work in Āinahau, the royal estate of Princess Victoria Ka’iulani, the heir to the Hawaiian kingdom. Āinahau is located in the ahupua’a of Waikiki, on the island of O’ahu. Ka’iulani visited Washington, D.C., speaking passionately against the overthrow of Queen Lili‘uokalani, and against Hawaiian annexation. I am grateful to the continued wisdom that the kanaka maoli, the native Hawaiian people bring to this space and this land, and want to open this space to empower their voices.
